false image about internet business

false image about internet business

There are many affiliate marketers who have been successful in making money from internet. When one of a successful marketer was interviewed on a TV show, she talked about her profit from her sales. It was amazing. No one could imagine how she could make such a big money while she was snoring. That show caused a lot of people want to enter this business.
Many audiences who did not know about internet marketing try to get the luck in this new world.  In the end, some of them failed. They were trapped by some ads that offered instant money making programs. They just needed to join the programs to get much profit without doing anything. They had to pay some cash to join the program. Instead of getting a lot of money they lost big money without return.

Introducing Google Analytics Premium

We built Google Analytics on the principle of democratizing data-- giving all website owners, big and small, the ability to learn from their visitors. Many websites use Google Analytics, ranging from personal blogs to large enterprises whose products and services we use daily.

We learned from some of our largest customers that they have some specific needs that the current version of Google Analytics can't meet in their entirety. Today we're addressing these needs by announcing a new option built for our largest customers: Google Analytics Premium.

We developed Google Analytics Premium around these pillars: more data, advanced tools, dedicated support and guarantees. Here’s a summary of what that covers:
  • Extra processing power - increased data collection, more custom variables and downloadable, unsampled reports
  • Advanced analysis - attribution modeling tools that allow you to test different models for assigning credit to conversions
  • Service and support - experts to guide customized installation, and dedicated account management on call - all backed by 24/7 support
  • Guarantees - service level agreements for data collection, processing and reporting
Google Analytics Premium was developed in close coordination with some of our largest clients. During our pilot phase, we’ve been working with Gucci, Travelocity, TransUnion, eHarmony and others, to make sure Google Analytics Premium meets their needs. We’re very happy with what we’ve built and we’re now ready to make it available to all interested clients.

Google Analytics Premium is available for a fixed annual fee in the United States, Canada, and the UK. You can get it directly from Google or through Google Analytics Premium Authorized Resellers. To learn more about Premium, you can contact the Google team or our authorized resellers. We've put together a short video:

We're more committed than ever to providing our customers, large and small, with options to measure and improve their marketing efforts. Google Analytics will continue to offer a powerful, free product as it always has and you’ll see plenty of new features and enhancements in the future. We’re pleased to help all of our customers to work more effectively with Google Analytics. Happy analyzing!

What’s happening on your site right now?

The web is getting faster, and not just the speed of the pages, but also the speed of change. Before, it was fine to build a website and modify it only when new products were launched. All of us avid Analytics users know that’s just not good enough. We need to be constantly on the lookout for problems and opportunities.

Currently, Google Analytics does a great job analyzing past performance. Today we’re very excited to bring real time data to Google Analytics with the launch of Google Analytics Real-Time: a set of new reports that show what’s happening on your site as it happens.

Measuring social media impact
One way that I like to use these reports is to measure the immediate impact of social media. Whenever we put out a new blog post, we also send out a tweet. With Real-Time, I can see the immediate impact to my site traffic.

For example, last week we posted about the latest episode of Web Analytics TV and also tweeted about the post. By campaign tagging the links we shared, we could see how much traffic each channel is driving to the blog as it happened. We could also see when we stopped receiving visits from the tweet, which helps know when to reengage.

Campaign measurement
Another way I’m using Real-Time is to make sure campaign tracking is correctly implemented before launching a campaign. When getting ready to launch a new campaign it’s critical to make sure your measurement plan is working before you start driving visitors to the page. With the Real-Time reports you can find out in seconds whether you’re getting the data you want in Google Analytics.

Accessing Real-Time
You’ll find the Real-Time reports only in the new version of Google Analytics. If you’re not already using the new version, you can start by clicking the “New Version” link in the top right of Google Analytics. Real-Time reports are in the Dashboards tab (though they will move to the Home tab in the updated interface next week) . You will have access to Real-Time reports if you are an Administrator on your Analytics account, or if you have access to a profile without profile filters. Real-Time does not support profile filters.

We just turned the reports on for a number of you, and over the coming weeks, everyone will have access to Real-Time. If you can’t wait, sign up for early access here: https://services.google.com/fb/forms/realtimeanalytics/. We’d love to hear about how you are using (or planning to use) Real-Time, so please share in the comments.

Design updates to the new interface coming next week

In March, we unveiled the new version of Google Analytics that included, along with many other improvements, a redesigned user interface. Since then we’ve heard from many of you on how we can improve different aspects of the design.

Designers from our User Experience team took a step back objectively asked "How can we make Analytics better?" They focused on the core organization (our information architecture) and way-finding as areas that could be improved. What followed were a series of brainstorming sessions with engineers and product managers, analysis of your feedback, customer interviews, card-sort studies, and general user testing – all done to iterate on our product while keeping our users involved in the process.

Next week we’ll release these changes. The biggest change you'll notice is that we have simplified the primary navigation into three tabs – Home, Standard Reporting, and Custom Reporting – to give you quicker access to the information that matters. We also incorporated the second layer of navigation that appeared in "My Site" throughout the Home and Standard Reporting tabs.

Here's what you can expect in each tab:

Home: The Home tab holds all reports and features that allow you to quickly understand what is happening on your site. You’ll find your custom dashboards here as well as your automatic and custom alerts from Google Analytics Intelligence.

Standard Reporting: All the built-in reports to understand your audience, advertising impact, traffic sources, conversions, content, and more are now displayed in one central place.

We're also excited about the addition of a report finder in the Standard Reporting tab. This will allow you to type the name of a report you’re interested in and quickly navigate to it without needing to hunt for it in the proper section.

Custom Reporting: Google Analytics lets you build your own reports to get exactly the data you need. With the new tab, we’re making Custom Reports a more important part of the interface. You’ll be able to access any reports you’ve created here and build new ones.

So what's next for our designers? We have a number of improvements planned to the overall Analytics interface to bring more focus on data, as well as exciting new features that will make analyzing data faster and easier.

If you'd like to help shape Google Analytics and want to participate in future user studies, please register here.

UPDATE: 10/14/2011 11:25am PST - And we're back. The design updates are back on for everyone.

UPDATE: 10/7/2011 9:30am PST - We've temporarily turned these updates off for a couple days to fix an issue. They'll be back in a couple days.

UPDATE: 10/6/2011 3:00pm PST - These updates are now live in the new version. Enjoy!

It’s now easier to set up Google Analytics Site Search tracking for your Custom Search Engine

Cross-posted from the Google Custom Search blog

Google Analytics Site Search reports provide extensive data on how people search your site once they are already on it.  You can see initial searches, refinements, search trends, which pages they searched from, where they ended up, and conversion correlation.  In the past we admit that setup was a little challenging, but we’re happy to announce that now we’ve made it easy to setup Site Search tracking directly from your Custom Search Engine.

If you are already a Google Analytics user (and your site has the Google Analytics tracking code on its pages), go to the Custom Search Engine management page, select your CSE’s control panel and click on Google Analytics from the left-hand menu. We’ll display a list of your Google Analytics web properties so you can select one and tell us the query and category parameters that you want to track.

Once you save your changes, we’ll generate a new code snippet.  Copy it from the Get Code page, paste it into your site and setup is complete!

You can then access Site Search reports from the Content section of Google Analytics.

Happy analyzing!  If needed, you can find help with setup here and an explanation of the differences between Google Analytics and Custom Search statistics here. Let us know what you think in our discussion forum.

Thursday Lesson

I am at UConn today.  I am presenting a class to future teachers about technology in the classroom.  iPads will be the focus of the discussion.  Your Evernote podcasts will probably be played.

Do the work while I am gone.  I firmly believe that there is not one teacher in the room, but twenty.  We all teach each other.  When a class can let go of the idea that the teacher must tell them everything the class will start to fly.  I want YOU to create the ideas in this class.

Today:

1. Try the Google A Day.  Can you get the answer?

2. Organize your W Drive.  Put assignments into folders.  Make it neat.  Everytime you get a new assignment it should go in a folder.

3. Create a HTML page.  Title it "HTML Lesson".

  • Create a one page website that demonstrates how to:
    • Open a file and create HTML (open notepad, how to view source, etc...).
    • How the "first 8 tags" work.  Body, head, etc...
    • How to create a link.
    • Use proper colors.  Does it need a table? Image?
    • Save in WDrive.  HTMLTutorial.html
4. If you finish please show the substitute.

Google Analytics Webinar: Getting started with Multi-Channel Funnels

A few weeks ago we launched Multi-Channel Funnels, a powerful tool to help you understand all the online interactions that lead your users to conversion. With five insightful reports, you can now measure the full conversion path, from first interaction to last click. More important, Multi-Channel Funnels provides actionable analysis about how your marketing channels work together, and answers key questions such as:
  • How much time does the average user take between first interaction and conversion?
  • How many interactions does it take to convert?
  • Which of my marketing channels are “assisting” conversions and which are “closers”?
To help you get the most out of this tool, we’ve scheduled a webinar to walk through the new reports and go over common uses with Bill Kee, the Product Manager for Multi-Channel Funnels.

Title: Getting started with Multi-Channel Funnels
Date: October 11, 2011
Time: 10am PST

Have questions about Multi-Channel Funnels? Send them to us ahead of the webinar so we can make sure to answer them. You can also vote for the questions you want to see answered most. You can submit your questions on our Google Moderator page.

If you can't attend the webinar, please check the Google Analytics YouTube Channel for a recording about a week after the live event. You can also read more from the initial announcement of Multi-Channel Funnels and watch a video about the tool.

We hope that you will be able to participate!

Usability

Today we will finish our introductory unit (test to come shortly).

Usability involves design and it involves hardware. First I must have enough bandwidth to get my information to the user. Bandwidth is the "size of the pipe" that carries information. The larger the pipe, the more information I can send. Second I need to think about the hardware at the end of the line. Is my user viewing the information on a phone or through a dial-up connection? Is my user using high spped DSL?

Here is what bad design looks like according to Vincent Flanders: Check out the worst website ever and his checklist for how to ruin your website.

Top ways to ruin a website:
1. We've designed our site to meet our organization's needs (more sales/ contributions) rather than meeting the needs of our visitors.
2. It takes longer than four seconds for a man from Mars to understand what your site is about. Example.
3. Our site looks like we've never seen another web site. Example.
4. We use design elements that get in the way of our visitors.
5. Our site doesn't make us look like credible professionals.

1. Read the following article. Save it in your favorites. Web Usability Guidelines.  The chart at the bottom is awesome.

2. Skim this basic article about usability from Great Britian.

3. What's wrong with Google?  Wouldn't you like to learn how to do that? (this may be blocked...working on it...)

Start a MS Word document. Please answer the following questions:

1. Define the following. Provide definitions that make sense to your readers.
  • bandwidth
  • web usability
2. Which of the following websites has a higher usability for teenagers. Why??

Newsmap
Connecticut Post

3. Find a website that you think has a high usability rating. Provide a link to this website and explain why you think its usability rating is high. Possible examples: Bobby (use headphones),  Baby Names (blocked??) Tall Buildings.

All three assignments (bias, accessibility, usability), the evernote biography recording, plus the two HTML webpages are due Friday 9/23.  Work hard today and produce your best work.

sidejob as foreign language teacher

Sidejob as foreign language teacher

This is a global world. There haven’t been borders to move from one country to other ones. Employment market is widely open.  People from Africa can move to Asian countries and find job there. Because of globalization learning foreign language becomes more necessary than few yeas ago. The most used language is English but learning other languages is needed too. You have to learn Japanese  when you committed to live and work there.
What foreign language do you speak? Do you speak Chinese, Indonesian, or Russian? When you are good at one of foreign language why you don’t try to teach a private classes as a side job. Being a private language teacher is easy and flexible. You can manage the time as you wish. What you need is to prepare the material to teach so you have enough resources to teach your students. Accessibility

Everyone fills out an info sheet today.  We will start the HTML Tutorials today.  I will start with a bit of a group lesson and then I will see what you can do.  Most of the class time will be reading time today.

There are four main categories we are covering in this unit; bias, accessibility, usability, and ethics. Today we will focus on accessibility.

Read this article. Introduction to Web Accessibility. The website contains lots of useful information. Take your time reading it.

We will watch this CBS News Video together in class.

Read some of how Apple focusses on accessibility.

Create an MS Word document. Answer the following questions:
  • Of the four major categories of disabilities (visual, motor, cognitive, hearing) which one do you think would pose the greatest challenges for a computer user. Why? Include specifics.
  • Dealing with a disability can be frustrating. What are three ways a web designer can design a less frustrating website for those who have a disability?
  • Try getting to the CNN website without using your mouse. How did that change the experience? Did you get frustrated?
  • What is our obligation to serve those with disabilities?
Save the file in your web design folder.  Print out for teacher.

When done here is your first HTML assignment.

Bias, Usability, Accessibility, and Ethics

There are four main criteria that we use to assess the validity of a website; bias, usability, accessibility, and ethics. Today we will focus on bias.

This is also an exercise in communication skills and page design. Can you get your point across effectively? Do you know your audience?

1. Class Discussion about bias
2. Read the following articles:
Gender Bias
Journalism Bias this is a longer article. Skim the whole thing (except the studies and theories of media bias section). Click on links that interest you.

3. Create a one page flyer in MSPaint that contains bias.

Girls: Boys are silly. Why can't they act right so I can get my work done? They should treat us with respect and not be so clueless.
Boys: Girls are silly. Why can't they act right so I can get my work done? They should treat us with respect and not be so clueless.

Think about your audience. Who are you writing it for? I am looking for two things. First, do you have good ideas and understand bias? Second, can you format the page well so you communicate these ideas? This is your first task in design.

This flyer must include the following:
  • A clip art or free-non-copyrighted image. Using copyrighted images is illegal. You could make your own image if you want using Paint or Fireworks. Check the links on the right for clip-art images or go here or toFlickr and use creative commons search.
  • At least three quotes (from real or imaginary people)
  • Have fun with this, stay respectful and appropriate.
4. Save in WDrive (Web Design folder). Check the Rubric for the assessment.

5. If you finish early you should start on the HTML Tutorials (link on right side of page).

Tell A Story

Today students will tell a story.  For many this will be exceedingly difficult.  Not because they can't write, or record, but because they have to interview their peers.

This entire class is about telling a story.  Telling a story through words, images, animation, links.  A bad web page story will be immediately discarded!  Nobody stays on a bad webpage or keeps listening to a poor recording.

Each student will write and record a 60 second biography for radio broadcast.  This biography will be of a classmate.  Students will record using Evernote.

We will post the biographies here.  Once the internet is up students will post to their individual blogs.

I am sure I will adapt this lesson after the first class.

Here are some posts that were created today:

Site Speed gets an upgrade. Hello Performance tab

This is part of our series of posts highlighting the new Google Analytics. The new version of Google Analytics is currently available in beta to all Analytics users. And follow Google Analytics on Twitter for the latest updates. This week, we share an update to the Site Speed report to help you better understand your site's performance.

In May, we made it easier to compare your site’s business performance with your site’s actual performance with the introduction of the Site Speed report in the new version of Google Analytics. Today we want to share an update.

We’ve heard the need to get into more detail about the reporting of your page load times. We’ve introduced a new performance tab in the SIte Speed report that will allow you to see a breakdown of the samples. This allows you to move beyond the averages and better understand your site’s performance.

For example, I’m looking at the Site Speed report for the Google Analytics blog. I can see that my average page load time is 7 seconds (we have some room to improve here). Now, we know that averages can hide what’s happening underneath the surface.

With the Performance tab in the Site Speed report, I can now dig in and find those details.

Ah ha! I can now see that, almost half of my visitors (46%) are actually seeing decent load times of under 3 seconds. And another 32% are getting the page in under 7 seconds. But there’s definitely still room to improve with a full 20% seeing 7+ second load times.

Taking this a step further, I can apply an advanced segment, in this case Visits with Conversions. I have set up the blog with engagement goals. So I’m trying to see if there’s a relationship between page load time and engaging with the content here.

And looking at this data, it looks like there is. The distribution of visits with conversions is skewed towards fast-loading pages. As page load time increases, I am seeing a drop in conversions. I can actually see the business impact of a slow loading page.

Another type of segmentation to try would be by geography. To start off, try segmenting visits from your country versus visits not from your country. From there you may want to dig into specific countries and look at page load times.

You'll find the Site Speed report in the Content section of the new Google Analytics. To get site speed data, you need to make a small change to your Google Analytics tracking code. Setup instructions and more details about the Site Speed report are in the Help Center. We hope you enjoy the new Performance tab, and you can expect more updates for Site Speed coming soon.

New Google Analytics SDK for iOS Version 1.3

Today we are releasing a new version of the Google Analytics for iOS SDK. We’ve added several features similar to those added to the Google Analytics for Android SDK version 1.3 earlier. New features include:

General Campaign Tracking
This new feature is probably the most exciting one for this release.  We now support the ability to set campaign referral information.  To learn more about this feature and how to use is, see our documentation.

AnonymizeIp
To provide more privacy to your users, use the anonymizeIp property in the GANTracker class, which removes the last octet of the IP address prior to storage.  More details can be found in the documentation.

SampleRate
If you are getting a large volume of traffic, you can set the sample rate to be something other than 100% and we’ll decide based on visitor ID whether to send hits.  This will allow you to control the sampling of your report data rather than having on-the-fly sampling occur.  Check out the documentation for more details.

We're continuing to enhance the Google Analytics Mobile SDKs to add features, fix bugs and make them better overall.  We hope you are just as excited as us with this latest version of the Google Analytics for iOS SDK.

between online and offline business

Between online and offline business

These are few of ads on the internet that offers making money online.

It looks attractive and interesting. What do you think of this ad? Have you ever clicked this ad? If you have a member of the online money making you know the answer perfectly.  I am not an expert in this virtual world but I have learnt about internet business a little. It is true and it can make money but you have to be careful and I think you have to learn from an expert if you want to do this business.
First, I clicked an ad and I hoped I will make a lot of money but I was disappointed because I had to buy some e-books and pay some money to be the member. Up to now I haven’t even make a $ in my pay pal account. Do you think I don’t trust money making online? I still believe to the program or the business but I suggest you not buy or join an online business program without guidance from an expert who has been successful in the business. You will get broke if you go to this business alone. You are in the jungle that is dangerous and dark.
Here, I am going to tell you about my experience in this jungle. I hope it will give you a picture about this virtual world. I am an elementary school teacher. I am teaching English I have good skill in teaching English ( I am not praising myself). I opened an account of my blog. This is my first blog. I expect that I get the bread of tasty dollars from internet but I haven’t got a cent up to now.
One day, I got an idea why I didn’t advertise my English skill and offer private classes in the evening. In the morning I posted my ad on my blog. Surprisingly, I got 5 calls in a month then I got one job. I charge for the fee of my private class is about $ 50-60 / 8 meetings. It is reasonable price for a non native English teacher in Jakarta.  There will be many calls next months I hope. I think I am going to recruit partners. I will charge a few percent from my partners’ fee. For me offline business is still the winner but I need online promotion to my business because online promotion is less cost and more effective. I just need to write my ad on my free blog.
I think if you have a skill, products, or services to sell you’d better sign up a free website or blog and start promote your business online. I still want to learn how to make money online but I am not doing it alone, I will take a course for this business.

A New Year

So...

Back in Web Class.  I am very excited to teach this "new" class.  I taught this for four years, took a two year break, and now I am back teaching two sections.  So much has changed!

This class should be fun and exciting.  You will write and read A LOT in here.  You will code, create, tape, video, and publish.  This will be an odd class for some of you as YOU take charge of your learning. You will have lots of choices as the year progresses.  This often makes students nervous as I rarely stand in front of you and say "now we will turn to.."

Today I ask you to have fun with the iPads in the group exploration activity.  If you finish, later you can do the solo activity.

Two things need to happen today:
1. You need to return your Internet Use form.  You got it in homeroom yesterday.  I can't do anything without that.
2. Fill out this Info Sheet using your iPad.

I may adapt this activity (filter....) and do some wifi mapping and area of triangle stuff.  Stay tuned.  I have this at 7:30am and will adapt again for 2nd time through at 12:30.

Paid review with blog page rank Zero

Paid review with blog page rank Zero

Many paid reviews require high page rank blogs but you don’t have to worry whose blog with page rank zero. Paid publish.com gives your opportunity to earn dollars from reviewing the advertisers in this site. My blog has page rank zero but it has been approved. I have just bloged  for months and I have about 30 articles when I signed up. After writing a short review about paid publish not longer than 28 hours my blog was accepted and had chance to bid the job from advertiser. The highest offer of my blog because of its less popularity is only $ 3 I don’t know how much the highest rate for blogs with page rank 3 is.
The minimum payout is  via paypal. I think it is not too big for you whose blog with page rank 3 to 4. You may only write 5 to 8 reviews to be able to pay out. It is easy isn’t it? There is another monetizing method for your approved blog. You can offer referral system to other bloggers. The bonus of the referral depends on the popularity of your blog. What you need is to put link and banner on your blog or posting so that it leads your traffics to paid publish.com.
High page rank is the assurance for your post to be accepted by the advertiser. The advertiser will review your writing. You write in a good grammar and good diction. If your writing meets the advertisers’ content you will receive the email of acceptance and the payment sent to your paid publish account. The most important thing in paid review is to avoid copas writing in case you will lose your reputation. Well, this is another good opportunity to monetize your blog.

blogging as a side job idea

Blogging  as a side job idea

Who doesn’t know wordpress and blogspot? I think everyone knows both. You can put and share your ideas on a blog. Some people like blogs better than formal websites when they surf on the internet.  A blog has unique features and easy to digest. A formal website is sometimes blocked by formal and academic contents and rules so that many people are lazy to visit a formal websites for long time. A blog is free and sometimes too liberal.  Have you ever heard a blog which shook a political situation in Malaysia? It happened few years ago. A blog is sometimes more powerful than a formal mass media.
