10 Tips for Preventing Acne

10 Tips for Preventing Acne

1. Keep your face clean. Whether or not you have acne, it's important to wash your face daily to remove impurities, dead skin cells, and excess oil from the skin surface. Use warm, not hot, water and a mild facial cleanser. Using a harsh soap (like deodorant body soap) can injure the already inflamed skin and cause more irritation.

Avoid scrubbing your skin harshly with a washcloth, exfoliating glove, or loofah (a coarse-textured sponge). Gently wash it with your clean hands or a very soft cloth. Always rinse well, and then dry your face with a clean towel. (Toss the towel in the laundry hamper, as dirty towels spread bacteria.)

2. Moisturize. Many topical acne products contain ingredients that dry the skin, so always use a moisturizer that minimizes dryness and skin peeling. A gel-based moisturizer usually works well for oily skin. If you have dry skin, try a moisturizing cream or lotion. Combination skin may need two products (cream or lotion for the dry section; a gel for the oily part). Always hydrate your skin with water before you moisturize it.

3. Try an over-the-counter acne product. Topical (those applied to the skin) acne products may contain ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide, an antibacterial agent with a drying effect, or salicylic acid, an agent that sloughs off skin and gets rid of bacteria. Start with a small amount at first. Then increase or decrease the amount and how often you apply it, depending on how much peeling or drying you have. Use these ointments with caution if you have sensitive skin. Benzoyl peroxide can cause redness and scaling of the skin. It can also bleach your clothes, towel, and hair.

4. Use makeup sparingly. During a breakout, try to avoid wearing foundation, powder, or blush. If you do wear makeup, wash it off at the end of the day. If possible, select oil-free cosmetics without added dyes and chemicals. Water-based cosmetics are available. Read the ingredients list on the product label before buying.

5. Watch what you put on your hair. Avoid using fragrances, oils, and harsh chemicals on your hair. These ingredients can drip on the face, blocking the skin pores and irritating the skin. Stick to a gentle shampoo and conditioner. Oily hair can add to the oil on your face, so wash hair often, especially during a pimple outbreak. If your hair is long, keep it pulled off your face.

6. Keep your hands off your face. Avoid touching your face or propping your cheek or chin on your hands. Not only can you spread bacteria, you can also irritate the already inflamed facial skin. Never pick or pop pimples with your fingers, as it can result in infection and scarring.

7. Stay out of the sun. The sun's ultraviolet rays can increase inflammation and redness. Further, some oral and topical acne medications may increase the skin's sensitivity to sunlight. Whether you have pimples or not, always apply sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher at least 20 minutes before sun exposure. Look for a non-acnegenic sunscreen to decrease the chance of new pimples. Again, always read the ingredients on the product label to know what you're putting on your skin.

8. Feed your skin. Most experts agree that certain foods, like chocolate and chips, do not trigger pimple outbreaks. Still, it makes sense to avoid greasy food and junk food and add more fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains to your diet. Some studies show that eating foods high in vitamin A and beta-carotene may boost your immunity and skin health. Carrots, sweet potatoes, cantaloupe, apricots, kale, and spinach are all high in beta-carotene, the type of vitamin A produced by plants.

9. Exercise daily. Regular exercise is good for your mind and your body, including your skin -- the body's largest organ. Working out reduces anxiety and boosts blood flow throughout the body. When you exercise, avoid wearing clothing or using exercise equipment that rubs on the skin and may cause irritation. Also, avoid wearing hats, goggles, or helmets that cause you to sweat excessively, as this can irritate the skin and increase bacteria. Always shower or bathe right after exercise.

10. Chill! Experts believe that our emotional state is related to all aspects of health, including skin function. Some studies link stress with the severity of pimples or acne. Take time to understand your stress reactions. Also, try to figure out what's causing you to feel stressed. Find effective ways to deal with stress before it builds up and causes a breakout.

While pimples are normal during your teen years, it is important to learn some daily self-care steps to manage skin problems before they get more serious. If in doubt, check with your health care provider to see if further treatment is necessary for preventing or stopping pimples.

LATEST CANCER INFORMATION

LATEST CANCER INFORMATION from Johns Hopkins !!!

AFTER YEARS OF TELLING PEOPLE CHEMOTHERAPY IS THE ONLY WAY TO TRY AND ELIMINATE CANCER, JOHNS HOPKINS IS FINALLY STARTING TO TELL YOU THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE WAY …

1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.

2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's lifetime.

3. When the person's immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumors.

4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors.

5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.

6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastro-intestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.

7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.

8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumor size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumor destruction.

9. When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.

10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.

11. An effective way to battle cancer is to STARVE the cancer cells by not feeding it with foods it needs to multiple.

What cancer cells feed on:

a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Note: Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in colour. Better alternative is Bragg's aminos or sea salt.

b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soy milk, cancer cells will starved.

c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.

d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes t o nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells.

To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).

e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine. Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties. Water--best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.

12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines will become putrified and leads to more toxic buildup.

13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.

14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Flor-ssence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.) to enable the body's own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements like vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body's normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells.

15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor.

Anger, unforgiving and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy life.

16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.

Maintaining a clear and beautiful skin, takes time, consistency and effort. Dermatologist may recommend lots of products, but some of them can be expensive and may actually take a long time to work. You can, however, incorporate some home remedies for blackheads and whiteheads into your daily beauty regimen and in a few weeks, you will experience a drastic reduction or even total elimination of the problem.

● Toothpaste – Toothpaste is an effective blackhead and whitehead remover. Apply a thin paste to your infected areas and let it sit on your face for at least 25 minutes. You will probably feel a burning sensation when you apply the toothpaste, but this is normal and will pass. Once you remove the toothpaste, the top of your blackheads and whiteheads will disappear, but you still need to thoroughly wash your face to remove the buildup underneath. Repeat this home remedy every other day for two weeks.

● Tomato – Tomatoes have natural antiseptic properties that dry up whiteheads and blackheads. Peel and mash a small tomato. Apply the tomato pulp to your blackheads and whiteheads before going to bed. Leave the tomato pulp on your face while you sleep and then wash your face in warm water in the morning.

● Lemon -Wash your face in warm water. Then, squeeze the juice of one lemon into a bowl. Add in a pinch of salt and stir the mixture. Apply the mixture to your blackheads and whiteheads. Leave the mixture on for approximately 20 minutes and then wash your face with warm water again.

● Lime – You can also use equal parts of lime juice and cinnamon powder and apply this mixture to blackheads. Leave it on overnight and rinse it off in the morning

● Cornstarch – Mix about a three-to-one cornstarch to vinegar ratio into a paste. Apply it to your problem areas and let sit for 15 to 30 minutes. Remove the paste with warm water and a washcloth.

● Yogurt - Mix three tablespoons of plain yogurt with two tablespoons of oatmeal. Add one teaspoon of olive oil and one tablespoon of lemon juice to the mixture. Stir the mixture thoroughly and apply it to the effective area of the face. Let the mixture sit for five to seven minutes then rinse off with cold water.

● Almond or oatmeal – Mix either oatmeal or almond powder with just enough rose water to make a spreadable paste. Apply it to your problem areas with your fingertips first and then apply it to the rest of your face. Let it set for about 15 minutes and then rinse your face with cold water.

● Rice – Soak rice in milk for 5 hours and then grind this in a blender until it is paste-like in consistency. Use the paste as a scrub on affected areas of the body.

● Potatoes – Grate raw potatoes and then rub the area with the mixture. Wash it off after 15 minutes.

● Fenugreek leaves – Crush some fenugreek leaves and mix with water to form a paste. Put this on the face for 15 minutes and then remove it. Do this every night to keep your face free of blackheads.

● Coriander leaves – Mix some coriander leaves and a little turmeric powder with water and form a paste. Use this as a mask to eliminate blackheads.

● Oatmeal -Grind oatmeal into a powder in a blender and then add some rose water. Use this on affected areas for 15 minutes and then wash it off with cold water.

● Baking soda – Prepare a mixture of equal parts of baking soda and water and rub it onto your face or other body areas prone to blackheads. Leave it on for 15 minutes and then rinse it off with warm water.

● Honey is also good for removing blackheads. Spread honey on the affected area and remove it after 15 minutes.

The power of onions !!!

A friend of mine told me a story about  when he was a kid he was in the hospital & nearly dying.  His  grandmother came to the hospital & told a family member to go buy her a large onion & a new pair of white cotton socks.  She sliced the onion open then put a slice on the bottom of each of his feet & put the white cotton socks on him.  In the morning when he awoke they removed the socks.  The slices of onion were black & his fever was gone.  The following story that someone sent to me might have some truth in it & we are going to try it this winter.

In 1919 when the flu killed 40  million people there was this Doctor that visited the many  farmers to see if he could help them combat the flu. Many of the farmers and their family had contracted it and  many died.

The doctor came upon this one farmer and to his surprise,  everyone was very healthy. When the doctor asked what  the farmer was doing that was different the wife replied  that she had placed an unpeeled onion in a dish in the rooms  of the home, (probably only two rooms back then). The  doctor couldn't believe it and asked if he could have one of  the onions and place it under the microscope.  She gave  him one and when he did this, he did find the flu virus in  the onion.  It obviously absorbed the bacteria, therefore, keeping the family healthy.

Now, I heard this story from my hairdresser in AZ.   She said that several years ago many of her employees were  coming down with the flu and so were many of her  customers.  The next year she placed several bowls with  onions around in her shop.  To her surprise, none of  her staff got sick.  It must work..  (And no, she is not in the onion business.)

The moral of the story is, buy some onions and place them  in bowls around your home.  If you work at a desk,  place one or two in your office or under your desk or even  on top somewhere.  Try it and see what happens.   We did it last year and we never  got the flu.

For flu cure:
Cut both ends off an onion put one end on a fork and then place the forked end into an empty jar...placing the jar next to the sick patient at night. It said the onion would be black in the morning from the germs...sure enough it happened just like that...the onion was a mess and I began to feel better.

Onions and garlic placed around the room saved many from the black plague years ago. They have powerful antibacterial, antiseptic properties.

Spices in the Indian kitchen with medicinal properties

Turmeric: Turmeric or haldi is a rhizome and is either consumed fresh or in powdered form. Most Indian curries, dals and vegetables will have turmeric powder added to it. It not only gives a good colour but also gives the dish a distinct taste, besides having medicinal properties.

It has been used in Ayurveda medicine since more than 4000 years. The active ingredient in turmeric is curcumin. It is a natural antioxidant and helps the body to get rid of oxidative stress. It also helps in regeneration of new cells in the body.

Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties. It could help in reducing the swelling and pain in patients with osteoarthritis.

Ayurveda has been using turmeric to treat mild skin diseases.

It is also antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-fungal. Turmeric powder is used to prevent spread of infections in cuts and wounds.

Haldi is also effective in preventing and reversing the effect of cough and colds.

It also seems to prevent growth of various types of cancer cells.

Regular intake of turmeric is also said to slow down the effect of Alzheimer’s disease.

Ginger: Ginger is another rhizome which is extensively used as a spice in India. Ginger is mostly used fresh and also sometimes in its powdered form. Ginger too has been used in ayurvedic as well as Chinese medicine for it medicinal properties.

Prevents nausea and morning sickness.

Prevents flatulence.

It also acts as a preservative.

There was a study done which showed that daily consumption of ginger reduced muscle pain (due to exercise) by 25%.

Ginger helps reduce inflammation in the colon and so prevents colon cancer.

It also helps reduce the symptoms and effects of cold and cough.

Ginger paste when applied on the forehead, seems to cure headaches and colds.

Garlic: humans have been using garlic for more than 7000 years! It is a root which is used as a spice in Indian cooking. Garlic is also known for its antibacterial, antiviral and anti-fungal properties. It is a well-known fact that eating even 1 clove of garlic/day helps lower cholesterol and so prevents heart attacks. It is also helpful to prevent high blood pressure and atherosclerosis.

Cinnamon: Cinnamon is the bark of a tree and is used in the form of sticks or powder to add flavour to many dishes like pulavs and curries.

It is known for its antiviral properties.

Cinnamon improves blood glucose control in type-2 diabetics.

Daily intake of cinnamon powder also helps to reduce LDL cholesterol.

Some studies have shown that applying cinnamon on yeast infections seems to stop them from spreading.

Olive Oil and its health benefits

Olive oil is known to be the healthiest oil there is. Often touted for its antioxidant benefits and its rich flavor and aroma, olive oil is quickly climbing on the top of the health conscious foodie’s list of ingredients. For long, olive oil has been a chief ingredient of the Mediterranean diet. It is rich in phytonutrients and is considered the best oil for cooking or for making salads. This delicious oil is rich in polyphenols, which give it anti-carcinogenic properties and make it an excellent anti inflammatory food. Most of the unique benefits of this oil stem from its large quantities of polyphenols.

So here’s why olive oil is so good for you:

Anti Inflammatory Benefits: it is not every day that you come across an anti-inflammatory oil. Oils are typically fattening and inflammatory, so it was surprising when olive oil was first found out to have anti inflammatory properties. It is the polyphenols in olive oil which lends it the anti inflammatory properties. Olive oil inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory enzymes in your body. It may also lower the blood levels of C reactive protein, a specific protein that is linked to inflammation in the body. However, an increased consumption of olive oil does not necessarily mean that you will have more anti inflammatory benefits.

Cardiovascular Benefits: as we grow older, our blood vessels undergo something known as oxidative stress. This is what happens when the blood contains too much of reactive oxygen. The polyphenols in olive oil can help remove the reactive oxygen from the blood, rendering them ineffective. A diet rich in anti oxidants can help remove the oxygen from your blood. Adding olive oils to your foods can give you adequate amounts of antioxidants, thus improving the health of all your cardiovascular organs including the heart and the blood vessels.

Digestive Benefits: numerous studies in the past few years have shown that olive oil can help reduce the occurrence of cancers in the digestive tract. The polyphenols in olive oil can help prevent cancers of the stomach and the small intestines. It can also help protect the lower digestive tract from carcinogens. Polyphenols in olive oil have also shown to decrease the growth of unwanted bacteria in the digestive tract, thus saving it from infections. Olive oil can also inhibit the growth of bacteria helicobacter pylori, an organism that causes stomach ulcers.

Skeletal Benefits: consumption of olive oil also promotes bone health by increasing the absorption of calcium in the body. In a study performed on rats, specific polyphenols in olive oil showed an increased bone formation. It is believed that olive oil can be especially beneficial to post menopausal women who are experiencing bone demineralization and brittleness.

Cognitive Benefits: among older adults, olive oil has shown to increase cognitive function. Increased ingestion of olive oil has been linked to increased visual memory as well as language retention. Older people who consume olive oil regularly also have improved verbal fluency declining retentive powers and failing memory.

Enrich your food with iron !

Iron deficiency is very common in India especially among women of child-bearing age. Iron in our body plays an important part in transferring oxygen to all other body parts and its deficiency makes us very lethargic, moody, and tired. Iron requirement for a woman is 30mg, and for a pregnant lady it is 38mg and for a young adolescent boy of 13-15yrs, it increases to 41mg per day!

How do we incorporate so much iron in our everyday lives? Although is it not estimated but observation confirms that the iron consumption of the urban Indian population-especially the youth is decreasing. More than 80% of Indian women are estimated to be suffering from anaemia!

Enrich your daily diet in such a way that you do not get iron deficiency.

Here’s a list of some iron rich foods (values per 100g):

1.Dried fish- 15-20mg

2.Liver-6mg

3.Other meats and even egg-although have less amounts of iron content as such-but they are better and easily absorbed in the body and hence considered good sources.

4.Gardencress seeds-100mg (it called halim in hindi, ahliva in marathi, alivirai in tamil and asalio in gujarati). These are the seeds which we normally find in ding ladoos traditionally made for lactating women. It is easy to just gulp down 1 tsp. of gardencress seeds with water-that will give you around 20% of your daily requirement.

5.Niger seeds-56.7mg (kala til in hindi-but not black sesame seeds; they are called ram til in gujarati and karale in hindi whereas katellu in tamil). They are not to be confused with black coloured til seeds which are commonly used in India. You can make chutney by roasting these seeds and then adding some salt, red chilli powder, few curry leaves and haldi. Grind this into a powder. A tablespoon of this chutney will give you another 20% of your daily iron requirement.

6.Cauliflower greens: known as fodder food among the vegetable vendors! These leaves give 40mg of iron along with vitamin C which aids in its absorption. Wash them thoroughly before consumption as they are sprayed with pesticides.

7.Cow peas-chawli beans-20mg.

8.Pohe-20mg.

9.Parsley and dill (shepu)-17-18mg.

10.Mint-16mg.

Colocassia leaves, soybean, roasted channa, moth beans (matki), til, chowli leaves, bajra, buckwheat (kootu),rajgeera, dried coconut, dried dates, rajma also have some amounts of iron. Consumptions of these foods are higher in our daily lives and hence-their contribution to our daily iron requirement is also more. So we have to make sure we include them in our routine diet-especially for women and young men (10-15years) to keep anaemia away.

Ways to avoid overeating ♥

Reasons of overeating may varies like boredom, stress, irritation and frustration but the result is same `Weight gain`.Here are some tips to hit the habit of overeating and develop the habit to eat in moderation:

Keep an eye on what you eat

It is natural to switch on TV when you are getting bored and munching wafers, pizza and burger while watching TV. Eating while watching TV is much prone to overeating that you don`t even realize.  Hence, it is advisable to avoid eating while watching TV and if you can not resist yourself then eat vegetables salad or fruit salad that are nutritious too.

Low Calorie Meal Starter

Instead of jumping on to the full course meal, start your meals with a low calorie starter. You can go for  low-fat dressing vegetable salad or soup that will not only help you in cutting down your diet, but will also give a fiber boost to your digestive system.

Replace big plate with smaller one

If you use an oversize plate for your meal, you will fill it accordingly, as smaller amount appear awkward in a big plate and give you the feeling that you are eating very less; escaping from leftover, you try to finish what is in your plate. To avoid this, use a smaller plate that give you the feeling that you have a full plate with lots of food. You will take less food, and therefore consume less calories. Don`t eat food in haste. Chew your each morsel properly. Studies have shown that when you chew slower, you eat less as it also lets you know when you are full before you start overeating.

Moderate eating while Eating

Eat in moderation while eating out. Generally, the serving sizes at any restaurants or hotel are more than double. At this time don`t try to finish it completely, instead of ask your waiter or waitress to bring you a take out box and keep this extra amount of food in it.

Frequent Mini Meals

Never ever skip a meal or avoid food for long hours, when you starve yourself for long time you will have craving for more food; the next time you have your meal and you will eat much food that will lead to overeating. To avoid this, take small frequent meal.

Increase your water consumption

Consumption of plenty of water can exempt you from overeating as your stomach feel fuller and your craving for strong food will be minimized. You can take hot water with lemon juice which is a great concoction that helps in increasing metabolic rates and help in burning calories too.

"Eat sprouted green gram everyday in the morning and within 3 weeks you will see that your Hair Fall has reduced. It works Wonders."

7 Dangerous acts after a meal !!!

~7 Dangerous acts after a meal~

1. Don’t smoke —- Experiments from experts proves that smoking a cigarette after meal is comparable to smoking 10 cigarettes (chances of cancer is higher)

2. Don’t eat fruits immediately — Immediately eating fruits after meals will cause stomach to be bloated with air. Thre fore take fruits 1 -2 hours after meal or 1 hour before meal.

3. Don’t drink tea—— Because tea leaves contain a high content of acid. This substance will cause the protein content in the food we consume to be hundred thus difficult to digest.

4. Don’t loosen your belt———- Loosening the belt after meal will easily cause the intestine to be twisted and blocked.

5. Don’t bathe———- ——- Bathing after meal will cause the increase of blood flow to the hands, legs and body thus the amount of blood around the stomach will therefore decrease, this will weaken the digestive system in our stomach.

6. Don’t walk about———- — People always say that after a meal walk a hundred steps and you will live till 99. In actual fact this is not true. Walking will cause the digestive system to be unable to absorb the nutrition from the food we intake.

7. Don’t sleep immediately—- ——– The food we intake will not be to digest properly. Thus will lead to gastric and infection in our intestine.

Please Share it to your friends let them be aware…

Main causes of liver damage !!!

The main causes of liver damage are:

1. Sleeping too late and waking up too late are main cause.
2. Not urinating in the morning.
3. Too much eating.
4. Skipping breakfast.
5. Consuming too much medication.
6. Consuming too much preservatives, additives, food coloring, and artificial sweetener.
7. Consuming unhealthy cooking oil. As much as possible reduce cooking oil use when frying, which includes even the best cooking oils like olive oil. Do not consume fried foods when you are tired, except if the body is very fit.
8. Consuming raw (overly done) foods also add to the burden of liver.

Veggies should be eaten raw or cooked 3-5 parts. Fried veggies should be finished in one sitting, do not store.

We should prevent this without necessarily spending more. We just have to adopt a good daily lifestyle and eating habits. Maintaining good eating habits and time condition are very important for our bodies to absorb and get rid of unnecessary chemicals according to "schedule."

Because:

Evening at 9 - 11pm : is the time for eliminating unnecessary/toxic chemicals (detoxification) from the antibody system (lymph nodes). This time duration should be spent by relaxing or listening to music. If during this time a housewife is still in an unrelaxed state such as washing the dishes or monitoring children doing their homework, this will have a negative impact on health.

Evening at 11pm - 1am: is the detoxification process in the liver, and ideally should be done in a deep sleep state.

Early morning 1 - 3am: detoxification process in the gall, also ideally done in a deep sleep state.

Early morning 3 - 5am: detoxification in the lungs. Therefore there will sometimes be a severe cough for cough sufferers during this time. Since the detoxification process had reached the respiratory tract, there is no need to take cough medicine so as not to interfere with toxin removal process.

Morning 5 - 7am: detoxification in the colon, you should empty your bowel.

Morning 7 - 9am: absorption of nutrients in the small intestine, you should be having breakfast at this time. Breakfast should be earlier, before 6:30am, for those who are sick. Breakfast before 7:30am is very beneficial to those wanting to stay fit. Those who always skip breakfast, they should change their habits, and it is still better to eat breakfast late until 9 - 10am rather than no meal at all.

Sleeping so late and waking up too late will disrupt the process of removing unnecessary chemicals. Aside from that, midnight to 4:00 am is the time when the bone marrow produces blood. Therefore, have a good sleep and don't sleep late

10 tips for good health

As you get older, your health becomes more of a priority. We have compiled a list of handy tips that will help you to stay fit and healthy and to improve your general well being.

1. Eat 5 portions of fruit or vegetables a day
The food you eat can have a huge impact on your health. A nutritious, balanced diet is essential for maintaining a healthy body and mind, especially in later life. Eating the recommended amount of fruit and vegetables is a simple way to improve your diet and is an excellent start to a healthier lifestyle.

2. Stop smoking
It's never too late! Giving up smoking will have a very positive effect on your health, whatever your age. You will breathe more easily; your circulation, skin, hair and teeth will improve; and your risk of serious disease will fall. Not to mention the financial benefits!

3. Get plenty of fresh air
Getting out in the fresh air is not only good for your physical health, but for your mental health too. Exposure to sunlight boosts your vitamin D levels, which is essential for your teeth and bones and also makes you feel happier! Going outdoors as often as possible, for example to walk your dog, is also a great way of meeting people and improving your social life.

4. Try to exercise regularly
This doesn't have to be anything strenuous. Walking is one of the best forms of exercise, it costs nothing and it will help to improve your health and general well being. The list of health benefits that can be gained from taking regular exercise, such as walking, swimming or dancing, is endless. Your fitness levels will improve and problems such as high blood pressure, depression and joint problems can be prevented. Exercise is also a very effective way of maintaining a healthy body weight.

5. Be socially active
Social isolation is a common problem, especially for older people. It is not unusual for family members to live in different areas, or even different countries, and not as many people know who their neighbors are nowadays. There are many ways to combat isolation, such as joining a class or lunch group or doing voluntary work.

6. Drink plenty of water
Drinking enough fluids helps to flush toxins from your body and keeps you hydrated. This is very important, especially in hot weather, when you are at risk of becoming dehydrated very quickly. The recommended amount of water you should aim to drink every day is 6 to 8 glasses, but you should increase this amount in hot weather or when you are exercising.

7. Keep your brain active
Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. There are lots of easy ways to help to keep your brain alert as you get older. Certain foods can help to increase your brainpower, as well as simple activities such as doing a crossword or quiz, reading a book or having a lively debate!

8. Have regular health checks
Visits to the dentist and optician become more and more important as you get older. They are the easiest way to ensure that your teeth and eyes stay healthy and that you get the best advice if there are any problems. Your eyesight and dental health can also be the first indicator of more serious health problems, such as diabetes, so it's a good idea to get them checked as often as possible.

9. Visit your GP if you are unwell
This may sound obvious, but there are lots of older people who are reluctant to visit the doctor and often hope that symptoms will just 'go away'. It may be because they are worried about wasting their doctor's time or because they are putting their aches and pains down to 'old age'. Don't hesitate to make an appointment if you are feeling unwell.

10. Be positive!
Having a positive attitude is the best way to put a spring in your step. Do something every day that you enjoy. Visit a friend, listen to music, read a book or simply take time to think happy thoughts!
